Residents of the northern community have reason to rejoice as a new state-of-the-art MRI service has commenced at Broadmeadows Hospital under Northern Imaging Victoria, increasing access and availability to advanced MRI imaging in Melbourne’s north.
Equipped with the latest Siemens Vida 3 Tesla MRI scanner, the service is part of an entirely new Medical Imaging Department at Broadmeadows Hospital which completed its refurbishment in February 2024. This scanner is equipped with the latest advances in MRI technology including deep learning artificial intelligence and noise reduction technology to enhance image quality and shorten imaging time in the scanner, resulting in better patient comfort and experience.
With the addition of MRI services, the Broadmeadows Imaging Department is a one-stop destination for comprehensive diagnostic needs with X-rays, CT, US and MRI now available to Northern Health and local referrers. The Broadmeadows Hospital Imaging Department is optimised as an outpatient imaging hub and will augment imaging capacity across the various Northern Health campuses and support the growing need for medical imaging services. There is also increased presence of medical imaging staff with an on-site consultant radiologist and experienced radiographers and sonographers to better support clinicians at the Broadmeadows campus.
Moreover, Northern Imaging Victoria prioritises patient comfort and safety, with a team of skilled professionals dedicated to ensuring a seamless experience throughout the imaging process and availability of subspecialty Radiology reporting expertise to ensure patients receive the highest quality care.
This development marks a significant milestone in our community’s healthcare landscape, offering accessible, advanced diagnostic services that can enhance patient outcomes and improve overall well-being and aligns with Northern Imaging Victoria’s aim to be the premier medical imaging provider in the region.
